Class OverviewWe hold a class each year starting in the fall. This is a fast-paced class which, unlike most in the area, emphasizes All Position Dancing (APD) from the very start. This class is suitable for complete beginners, but may also be of interest to current dancers seeking more experience with APD as well as returning dancers who want a complete review of all of the calls from Basic, Mainstream and Plus.
Notable Features of this Class
ScheduleThe class meets Sunday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. We began with introductory sessions, for people with no previous experience with square dancing, at the beginning of the class season. Since then we have been introducing new calls each week, building on what was taught in earlier weeks. People with some previous experience may still be able to join the class after the intro sessions -- let us know if you are interested and we can discuss your situation. Because this is a fast-paced class, after the intro sessions regular attendance is expected.
Starting in late October, if there is enough interest we may also offer an additional review session; this is open to all class members, but is especially recommended to anybody who missed the previous week. Following the class session, starting at 8:30pm, we have tips for experienced dancers (which class members are welcome to stay and watch). The cost is $12/week/person, with a discount available for pre-payment.
The number of weeks varies from year to year, depending on the mix of students. LocationWe expect that most class sessions this year will be held at Ladera Community Church near the Stanford campus.
