Congratulations to John Flora and Dolores Ferrero for another successful Golden State Roundup! Many Quads were in attendance, and Joe Dehn and Bill van Melle each called several sessions. Also helping put on this event were Jim Davis as MC for the Grand March and Barbara Geller organizing the committee afterparty.
That same weekend Terry Edwards and Susan Gregory were in Denver for the IAGSDC Convention "Red Rocks and Purple Mountains". In June, Caroline Fifield and Kristen Luttinger danced in England, at the Grand Square Inc. UK Festival in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, as well as with the Sidmouth Stars, the Axe Vale Swingers, and the Isca Allemanders. Caroline also attended the (USA) National Square Dance Convention in Charlotte. Meanwhile, Joe Dehn, Mary Gingell, Pat Ho, Bill Hoover, Dodie Hoover, and Bill van Melle traveled to Milwaukee for the Academy for Advanced and Challenge Enthusiasts (AACE). Back in Palo Alto, C-1 students and angels have been gathering each week before our regular Plus session for review/practice led by Joe Dehn, Mary Gingell, and Bill van Melle. On several occasions we have had two full squares for this session. Many of the students are currently taking the Interlocked class taught by our club caller John Sybalsky. The first Sunday in August we will be Dancing at the Fair. And mark your calendar for our annual Challenging Plus Hoedown, at St. Andrews Church in Palo Alto on 22 September! |
