(Originally written for publication in Squares 'Round the Bay.)

The busy fall season began with our 22nd "nearly annual" Challenging Plus Hoedown. Our club caller John Sybalsky called two and half hours of Plus followed by an hour of star tips up to C-3B, and John Flora cued the rounds. Attendance was very good, with as many as 16 squares dancing during the Plus portion.

In October, the big event was Jubilee, with many Quads members playing key roles. Joe Dehn served as General Chair, Jim and Sue Davis as Assistant General Chair, Mary Gingell as Program Chair, Michelle La Chance as Youth Chair, and Betsy Lasarow-Tozzi as Caller Procurement Chair. Ray Olszewski worked on sales, including the registration database, as well as chairing the Solo Advisory Committee. Jan Hoover helped coordinate the volunteers on site. Also helping with setup and other work during the event were Caroline Fifield, Alan "Puck" Stevenson, Leigh Reimert, Debbie Winnett. Andy Hohenner, and Julia La Chance. As one of the SCVSDA Top Ten, John Sybalsky called many sessions. Bill van Melle also called and John Flora cued.

We had substitute callers three times this fall when John was unavailable. Joe Dehn and Bill van Melle called the last Sunday in September. Scot Byars called the first Sunday in October -- and brought Hunter Keller with him again. Don Benson called the last Sunday in October.

Our class is off to a great start, with about 35 prospective students in attendance for each of the two intro nights. The regular class sessions are every Sunday at our normal time, 7-9pm. This class teaches APD Plus and moves relatively quickly, so by the time you read this it will not be possible for beginners to start, but current dancers who want more APD practice are welcome to join at any time. Full Plus along with Advanced and Challenge star tips start at 9pm.
