(Originally written for publication in Squares 'Round the Bay.)

Fall is here again, and by the time you read this we should have seen you at our annual Challenging Plus Hoedown! Earlier in September, Scot Byars called for us one Sunday when our club caller John Sybalsky was unavailable.

And this month we hope to see all of you at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds for the 50th annual Jubilee, on which several of our members have been working very hard.

In SCVSDA elections on 10 September, Joe Dehn was re-elected for another term as Second Vice President, Sue Lietz-Davis was elected Treasurer, and Jim Davis was elected to a Director position.

Our beginner class starts with two free intro nights, 22 and 29 October. While this class is primarily intended for people with no previous square dance experience, because we emphasize All Position Dancing from the start it may also be of interest to people who have already been though a Mainstream or Plus class but want to better understand the variety of ways that the calls can be used. The class will be held in Palo Alto on Sundays from 7pm to 9pm, followed by full Plus, Advanced, and Challenge "star" tips. Singles, couples, and families are all welcome -- no partner necessary.
